Fjord 2009 Mobile Predictions

Fjord has released its 2009 predictions for Mobile. Compiled by Christian Lindholm and team.

Their first prediction is that application stores will become the digital innovation bazaars. The second prediction involves the 'Cloud': a place where you safely access and share your digital life. Location, photos, calendar, address book, video and audio all become accessible via the 'Cloud'. For countries where digital assets are primarily accessed via phones, the Cloud is going to be the place where services and data reside. The third prediction is about the connected netbook for kids. The fourth prediction is that TV will finally go mobile. Micro blogging will become the focal point of social media where the status box becomes the new search box. They also see Android becoming a major invader of the mobile market and Nokia has declared war with their Ovi  solution. Samsung and LG will have to follow with similar solutions which bring the application store and Ovi like functionalities to their customers. Because of the move towards micro blogging, twitter, QWERTY keyboards are becoming more and more popular. Location is becoming a focal point for convergence between the mobile and fixed devices with massive investments from Nokia.
